This very small cormorant was swimming alone near the bridge to the community market. The prehistoric looking bird bobbed up and down in the water, would disappear under water for a short time, and then reappear a few yards away from where it had been.

This Carolina wren sits in the thicket of a bush near the river. It soon sang its shrill bird song.
